ICTA of Sri Lanka has commenced a Project with international funding for typing digitized, Sinhala and Tamil Books of historical and cultural importance containing of around 50,000 pages. The objective is to improve our cultural visibility all over the world so that people could read these books which would finally be available in digital format at Project Gutenberg. This project would also provide an income to our rural community who are familiar with Sinhala Unicode typing. Therefore we selected five school leavers from the Nihiluwa Village and trained them for Sinhala Unicode. This is our first BPO and it enabled them to earn income while contributing to publish our history.Mr.Samantha Abysekara from S&C Systems Integrators (Pvt) Ltd Coordinated this project.
