Nihiluwa is a serene little village situated in the Hambantota District.It lies on the Beliatta -Hakmana main road. It is surrounded by the beautiful Tharaperiya mountain range and the mount Umangala.There is a Buddhist temple on top of this mountain but not too far away from the world famous Mugirigala Raja Maha Viharaya.The Kirama Oya encircles the village on its way towards the sea supplying water for most of the village needs.However paddy cultivation is depend on four reservoir.There are four schools in our village. Nihiluwa public school is a leading one in the area.Nearly 500 students are ![]() Basically our village depends on a Agriculture field. Majority of the land of our village are covered with paddy field.Apart from that,some chena cultivation can be seen in our village. Few villagers engage in wood craft while others are doing commercial crops. We can not find very first day of this temple.But it was believed King Keerthi Sri Rajasinha had offered this temple to Thenagama Thero who had work to uplift Buddhism in 2290 B.C.A huge Dageba is situated on the top of the nice rock.It is very interesting to see.It is well-known that an archeological value of this place is very high. |
